Weekend Festivities

9:17 PM

Well the weekend is over and we are starting another week at the grind. Although, for some reason lately the weeks have been flying by! That's always good though. One good highlight of the weekend was the cooler temps. Temps are supposed to get into the upper 50's/lower 60's this week, PRAISE THE LORD!! Fall is in the air!

It began Friday afternoon as soon as we got off work and headed to "The Big Grab". It was the 1st time 25 mile yard sale, spanning 3 cities. Of course when I heard the advertisements and found the facebook page I knew there was no way I could miss this. So I called up my girl Whit and asked if she wanted to go with me. Of course, she and Cam obliged and they met me and Daniel after work to see see what kind of deals we could find. It was supposed to be Friday from 12-8 and Saturday from 7-2. With all this hype, we had pretty high expectations and unfortunately Friday did not live up. There were few vendors, but this could be expected since it was a Friday night and folks had been working all day. We found a good deal at our first stop, where I purchased some Christmas glasses to go with my new Christmas dishes purchased after Christmas last year and Whitney was able to find three lamps that have great roots. One is already in white and in great condition, the other two need a little DIY so I'll keep you updated on how that goes. After we wrapped up shopping for the evening, we went to dinner together and shared laughter and fun as always.

Saturday Whit and Cam had to go back to GA for a wedding shower and Daniel had plans to go dove hunting in the am and tennis in the mid morning, so I ventured out around 7 to the yard sale again. And this time it lived up to my expectations. People were everywhere and I was able to snag up some great deals. Here is what I got:

Practically brand new pair of mizuno running shoes $5 (got these for a friend because they weren't my size but too great of a deal to pass up!!!)
The pretty Christmas dishes I got for Whitney. $4 for a 4 piece place setting, 2 serving bowls, & a platter. Not to shabby!

My pile of goods!

Scented Wax coated pine cones with wire basket $3

Christmas glasses to go with my Christmas dishes purchased after Christmas last year........set of 8......$2

Stainless steel bread box $2

Can't go shopping without gathering up some clothes......4 shirts for $7

MILK GLASS LOVE!!! I told Daniel I stole all this!!! $7 bucks for 6 pieces is a steal!

Wire spice rack......$1

Two wreaths to put my DIY touch on.......$1.25
I'd say it was a pretty successful yard sale trip!!

After I wrapped up my shopping, I headed to the house to go over all of my good deals and to take a little nap with the hubby. Because we were so tired, the nap lasted a little longer than planned but it was well worth it and greatly enjoyed. We then got up and headed to the grocery store to get a last few supplies for our tailgate dinner during the GA game. We cooked up buffalo chicken dip, pigs in a blanket, fried pickles, homemade onion rings, homemade potato wedges, and brownies and ice cream. It was quite a delight and we were happy to be able to watch the Bulldawgs win while chowing down. How 'bout them dawgs!

Today we had a great day hanging with friends! We visited a new church today with our friends Cam and Whitney. This is the church Whitney works at and since Daniel wasn't on call today we figured we would give it a try. We enjoyed it and are excited to try it again. We are still trying to figure out where God want's us to get involved and to say it has been a challenge is an understatement, so keep that in your prayers. After church, we went to eat at Moe's and then the guys headed to get spiffy for a tee time at 3:00. Daniel has been itching to play golf the last couple of weeks and since he knew Cam liked golf too he scheduled a time for them to go today. So me and Whit got to go shopping during their guy time.  Cam invited another guy to go with them today and so his lovely wife, Melissa, got to go with us too. They are in the same situation as they are not from Columbia either, but moved here from Alabama and are still unsure of the area and are trying to make friends. So needless to say it was great for us all to get to hang out, shop, talk, and be girls for a little bit. The guys had a great time golfing and we had a great time shopping! What more could you ask for! The Lord is continuing to bless our life with new friends and fun times here in SC and we could not be happier to welcome them. It has been a long road getting here, but I would say it has all been worth it and me and Daniel could not be happier.

Tonight we had our first softball game. The weather was nice but I can't say it was the best playing I have ever seen. Hopefully the guys will get the swing of things and begin to improve. It was great getting to share that time again with people we know. Things are way more fun when you know someone. Tomorrow is Whitney's birthday, so that is very exciting!! Everyone join me in wishing her a Happy Birthday!

XOXO
