Another road block....

12:55 PM

Sorry I didn't write yesterday....I had a busy day and didn't get time last night.

So like I said we were moving forward to closing on December 16th. We went the Saturday before that to look at the house one more time and to figure out some paint colors which was extremely exciting and made the whole process seem that much more real!

And then I got the phone call....it was Tuesday afternoon before closing that Friday around 2:00. I was so disheartened to find out a bit of tricky news. While the lawyers were getting all the paperwork ready for Friday, they ran across a little titling issue. See the house was being sold by the son of the original owner, who died around 2 years ago and the son had been doing some improvements ever since then. He did major improvements that we were so happy he did such as installing central heating and air (saved us big $$), new hot water heater, new heat pump, new insulation in the attic, new counter-tops in the kitchen, new stove and cooktop in the kitchen, new flooring throughout the kitchen, new exterior doors, new pedestal sinks in the bathroom, reporcelained the tub, and did I mention he pulled up some ugly old carpet to reveal majestic original hardwood floors!!!! Yeah I love them!! They are throughout all the bedrooms and the living room!!! Awesome!!

So anyways back to the title problem.....they found where a lien still existed on the house from 1987!! Yea that's 24 years ago and get this it had changed hands 4 times before it was finally handed over to Bank of America! Which from my field of work I knew they probably had no record of this lien at all and that is what worried me. Bank of America is the epitome of customer service right? No, WRONG! So the lawyer and our real estate agent, Renee, got in touch with someone finally at Bank of America to get them to start researching if they still held a lien on this or not. See we couldn't / wouldn't close until this resolved. And get this curve ball......Bank of America said it could be January 27th until we would hear anything back. Yea that means we would still be waiting........who wouldn't want to do that, right?

Of course I was crushed! At that moment is when I realized that I had fallen in love with the house! I didn't realize it until then for some reason, but I wanted it to work out so badly! I got really upset and couldn't quit crying!! That ruined all of our plans for updating the place during the week before and after Christmas!

Well see we were supposed to go to a small group meeting at church that same evening for the first time. We had been wanting to go for a couple of weeks but our schedules just didn't allow so we were finally going to get to go that night. Well after all of the comotion from above we weren't really in a mood to go put on a smile and hang around people we didn't even know. Well after some discussion with Daniel on our ways home from work we decided we thought we needed to go. Yeap, I think Satan was trying to destroy us by getting us down and mad at each other and not going!! But we slapped him in the face and went on!! We were so glad we did to by the way! We have been going ever since that evening!

So what happened with the title you may ask? Well I got a call the next morning around 10:00 from Renee, the real estate pro (LOL), and she informed me that the company she works for, Russell Jeffcoat, has a relationship with Bank of America and that she had found a contact (a CEO, meaning he might can do something) that she thought might be able to speed the process up for us. I just thought that was good and was happy she was working so diligently to fix the issue for us. Well then an hour later I get another call from her stating that the guy was currently writing the letter to release the lien and going to be sending it over to them in the next little bit. Yea that's right resolved in less than 24 hours!! So she proceeded to tell me that she thought we could definately get it closed by the end of the year now and she would call me to set up that time. Well then about 30 minutes after getting off of the phone with her, she again called me (LOL). This time stating that she was glad we had kept the 10:00 appointment for Friday, the 16th (we kept it to go sit down and speak with the lawyer about this whole matter). Why was she glad? Because we were now going to be closing again on Friday. Yea!! Who would have thunk it?? Not us for sure!

So needless to say the Lord triumphed again and we sent Satan back down to hell and told him to leave us alone!! We walked into closing on Friday with big smiles on our face and couldn't wait to sign our life away!! LOL And at the end of the closing the Renee said to us, "You know this has been the most faith filled transaction I have ever been a part of" and I said "It sure has. That is OUR GOD!!"

So to say the least I still want to send all of my praise up to the Lord who so greatly blessed us with a nice house and so graciously put His hand over the entire process!
